OSHP’s 15th Annual All-Ohio

Residency Showcase

Saturday, October 27, 2018

This is your invitation to participate in OSHP’s 15th Annual All-Ohio Residency Showcase. Each year the popularity of the Residency Showcase continues to grow, allowing us to continue a two-session showcase! Last year over 300 students and 75 residency sites attended. All students are welcome, and those graduating in 2019 or 2020 are especially encouraged to attend. The Class of 2019 will be given a period of exclusive access to the residency site representatives. Be sure to visit OSHP’s website throughout the month of October for updates on which residency programs are registered for the Residency Showcase at


Resident and Director Panel:

Panel will consist of residency directors and residents from around the state prepared to discuss the match process, interview pearls, and answer questions from the audience. Be sure to bring your questions!

Residency & Showcase 101:

Programming geared towards students in the earlier professional years that will cover residency training and how to prepare for local and national residency showcases.

Preceptor Development:

Preceptor development continuing education will be provided to those who RSVP. The topic, Using a Team Based Approach when Optimizing or Expanding Residency Programs, will discuss layered leadership in residency training, compare and contrast types of residency activities with related roles, and discuss implementation of roles within programs to minimize burnout. Panelists will consist of Kyle Gustafson, PharmD, BCCCP; Natalie Beyer, CPhT; Kelsey Rife, PharmD, BCACP; Mandy Leonard, PharmD, BCPS; and Cindy King, PharmD, BCACP, CACP.

Pharmacy Academic Challenge:

The Pharmacy Academic Challenge will return this year! Come watch Ohio Colleges of Pharmacy complete in a collegial tournament consisting of clinical smarts, wit, and patient advocacy.

Clinical Skills Competition:

The 9th Annual Clinical Skills Competition returns to help prepare Ohio pharmacy students for the national ASHP competition. Schools and colleges of pharmacy will be asked to select two student representatives. The competition will occur in the morning prior to opening remarks. Information will be forthcoming separately.

How to Succeed in IPPE/APPE:

Get advice on how to be a top performer on rotations and promote your candidacy for future jobs and residency positions.

Curriculum Vitae Review:

Pre-registered students from ALL classes are welcome to sign up for a complimentary CV review conducted by experienced preceptors. Please email CVs to by September 24th in order to receive your review before the Residency Showcase. This is a firm deadline.

Pharmacy PhORCAS:

Guest Speaker: Brendan Reichert, MS, RPh
Learn the ins and outs of the residency application process including Phase I and II of the match process and step-by-step online PhORCAS process including how to upload transcripts, request letters of recommendations, and more!


The Residency Showcase will be held at the Crowne Plaza Columbus North at 6500 Doubletree Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43229. The hotel is located just off I-71 and State Route 161. Take Exit 117 from I-71, turn west onto Route 161. Turn right onto Busch Boulevard and go three traffic lights to Kingsmill Parkway. Turn right onto Kingsmill Parkway, which leads directly into the hotel parking lot.


- Make a good first impression! Dress professionally.

- Prepare a CV for distribution and bring business cards.

- Do your homework. Outline sites you want to visit and familiarize yourself with that site prior to the big day. Certain sites offer several residency programs. Refer to OSHP’s website periodically for registered sites.

- Be respectful of each program’s time. Have your questions prepared in advance.

- If you don’t get the opportunity to speak with every program, ask if anyone from the program is available for further discussion at another time.
