A WORD FROM THE EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT

WHY DO THEY CALL IT DIVISION DAY?

The Spring “Division” Day was anything but that as it really brought everyone together! After a winter of hard work dealing with SB144 and HB73 amongst other legislative challenges all the “divisions” of OSHP met on March 8th at Ohio Health in Columbus to discuss the important issues of the state society. One of the most exciting components of the day was having 31 technicians, both current and new Division prospective members attending, which was a significant increase from past meetings. I don’t think the membership incentives provided by Pharmacy Stars hurt as a stimulus! There was discussion about the fellow status for both technicians and pharmacists for Ohio and the need to finalize those criteria. We had two great presentations, with a morning one from SurfRx on UV-C sterilization for Clean Rooms and then at lunchtime a great presentation on the future roles of Pharmacy Technicians. The day wrapped up with a Legal Town Hall led by Joe and Dan. There was ample opportunity for all the members to get involved and lots of time to network. After the meeting COSHP hosted Happy Hour at a local Brewery.

So, all in all I would be hard pressed to say it divided anyone, as all members worked together to advance our profession, our practice and the care of our patients. In the FALL we may be calling Division Day something else? Who knows? If you have any suggestions, let us know!
